3E Exchange now has the functionality to support you in submitting data to the ECHA SCIP database. SCIP is the database for information on Substances of Concern in articles as such or in complex objects (Products) established under the EU's Waste Framework Directive (WFD).

This means that any company supplying products that contain substances of very high concern (SVHCs) on the Candidate List above a concentration of 0.1% (w/w) to the EU market is required to submit information on these articles to ECHA (European Chemicals Agency) beginning January 5, 2021. According to ECHA, "The SCIP database ensures that the information on articles containing Candidate List substances is available throughout the whole lifecycle of products and materials, including at the waste stage. The information in the database is then made available to waste operators and consumers."

Below are step-by-step instructions, with links to other articles, on how to submit data to the SCIP database via 3E Exchange.

Step 1: Connect your ECHA and 3E Exchange Accounts

You first need to make sure that your Toxnot and ECHA accounts can communicate with one another. This article walks through the process of connecting these accounts.

Step 2: Import Your SCIP Data

SCIP has a set of required fields that need to be filled out per article in order to be submitted to the database. This article walks through the process of manually adding data, editing the data in bulk, and importing it via spreadsheet.

Step 3: Survey Your Supplier(s) (optional)

If the data you imported is incomplete, you may need to survey your supplier(s) for additional information. You can use 3E Exchange's supplier survey functionality to do this in the software directly. This help article shows you how to survey a supplier using our SCIP survey template.

Step 4: Submitting Your Data to the SCIP Database

Once all of your SCIP data has been imported into 3E Exchange and all required fields have been filled out, you can submit your data directly to the SCIP database. This help article walks you through the process of submitting SCIP data one by one and in bulk.

And that's it! You can come back to 3E Exchange at any time to manage your SCIP data and submit additional information. If you would like to read more about SCIP and its requirements, feel free to visit the ECHA website directly: ECHA SCIP Database.
