3E Exchange Release Notes – April 2026

⚡ In-Survey Supplier Document Processing Agent (Beta)

We’re excited to introduce the in-survey supplier document processing agent, a new capability in 3E Exchange that helps suppliers complete compliance surveys using their existing documents—reducing manual effort and improving data quality.

This capability is available in April 2026 and is integrated directly into the 3E Exchange survey workflow.


Overview

Suppliers responding to 3E Exchange surveys often need to manually transfer information from documents such as SDS, CMRTs, and technical specifications into survey fields—a process that can take hours and often leads to incomplete or inconsistent responses.

The in-survey supplier document processing agent addresses this by:

  • Allowing suppliers to upload regulatory documents directly within the survey

  • Automatically extracting and mapping answers to survey questions

  • Providing suggested responses with confidence scores, citations, and reasoning

  • Requiring supplier validation before submission

👉 The result is faster survey completion, improved response quality, and reduced manual effort.


What’s New

In-Survey Document Processing

Suppliers can now:

  • Upload documents directly within the survey experience (no separate tools required)

  • Trigger the document processing agent from within the survey window

  • Receive auto-populated responses mapped to each question based on uploaded documents (no external sources are utilized; responses are limited to what the supplier provides)

  • Review, edit, and confirm responses before submitting

Supported document types include:

  • SDS

  • CMRT

  • certifications

  • technical specifications

Supported file formats:

  • PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX

  • PNG, JPG, TIFF, BMP

  • XML, CSV, TXT


Confidence Scores, Citations & Reasoning

Each suggested answer includes:

  • Confidence score

    • High (≥0.70): strong direct evidence

    • Low (<0.70): partial or ambiguous evidence

    • Insufficient Data (0.0): no relevant content found

  • Citations

    • Source document name

    • Page number

    • Supporting excerpt

  • Reasoning

    • Plain-language explanation of how the answer was derived

👉 This provides full transparency and supports auditability.


Human-in-the-Loop Validation

  • The agent never submits responses automatically

  • Suppliers must:

    • Review

    • Edit (if needed)

    • Submit approved survey

👉 This preserves supplier accountability while reducing manual effort.


Multi-Language Support

  • Documents can be uploaded in multiple languages

  • No pre-translation or reformatting required

  • Outputs are returned in English within the standard survey interface

👉 This allows global suppliers to use existing documentation without translation or reformatting.


AI Audit Log

A new AI Audit Log is available to survey senders:

  • From the survey dashboard open a "Response Received" survey and select "AI Audit Log" (see image below)

    • Only visible after survey response submission if agent was used

  • Provides answer-level visibility into AI-generated inputs

  • Tracks how responses were generated and validated including source citations

👉 This enhances transparency, governance, and traceability.


Known Limitations (Beta)

Performance & Concurrency

  • Max 4 concurrent survey processing jobs

  • Queue supports up to 3 additional requests


Document & Survey Limits

  • Max file size: 20 MB per file

  • Survey limits remain consistent with Exchange:

    • Up to 1,500 materials per survey

  • Processing limits depend on a combination of:

    • Number of materials

    • Number of document pages


AI Scope & Behavior

  • Extracts only from uploaded documents

  • No cross-survey memory

  • No cross-material reasoning

  • Compliance determination is performed by 3E Exchange logic (not the agent)


Out of Scope

  • Open surveys (no predefined material list)

  • VOC, Lifecycle Assessment, Circularity


Beta Status

This release is currently labeled Beta.

  • Reflects ongoing optimization and enhancement

  • Core functionality is available and supported

  • Additional capabilities (e.g., offline workflows, expanded coverage) are planned in future phases


Who Gets Access

The in-survey supplier document processing agent is available to:

  • All 3E Exchange customers

  • All suppliers responding to supported surveys

No additional configuration is required for availability in eligible workflows.
