How to organize and submit your product passports to mindful MATERIALS from your 3E Exchange account.

What is mindful MATERIALS?

mindful MATERIALS is a library that brings together sustainability information for products. On Mindful Materials, manufacturers and designers are able to showcase transparency data and optimize both information and industry professionals to search for product data.

Data that can be updated and stored on mindful MATERIALS includes but is not limited to:

  • Material ingredients

  • Environmental data

  • VOCs

  • Material Sourcing

  • Social responsibility

  • Other transparency information

How does 3E Exchange work with mindful MATERIALS?

mindful MATERIALS has partnered with 3E Exchange and Ecomedes, Inc to digitize the Common Materials Framework (CMF). 3E Exchange allows users to import and store data fields that feed directly into this framework. Ecomedes, Inc will be using their API to pull passport data directly from the Passport Library into mindful MATERIALS for 3E Exchange users.

How do 3E Exchange users submit their data to mindful MATERIALS?

  1. Make sure your products and materials and added and stored in your 3E Exchange library.

  2. Add any data to your product/material that you would want to submit to mindful MATERIALS

    1. You can manually input product names, general descriptions, and photos by following these steps.

    2. You have the option to import summary data to update multiple products and materials at once using our Summary Data Import Template.

  3. Link any certifications you have to the product/material record in 3E Exchange by inputting the certification ID. Click here to understand how to locate that ID.

    1. Be sure to add certifications to your products and also fill out the applicable "sold items" for each product.

  4. Publish your product/material as a passport on the Passport Libary.

    1. Be sure to select the option to transfer your data to public catalogs.

  5. Make sure to specify that you would like the data to be submitted to the mindful MATERIALS catalog.
